What happens when one of the animators from Space Jam takes on livable cities? Ta da!
Don't be fooled by the cute animation - this little video is packed full of academic research and planning know-how. I'll end up dissecting those concepts a bit in my own future vlogs. First, I want to launch a discussion on Saga City!
Here's how it's going down in Fredericton.
Ryan and I were recently approached to participate in an annual social media boost by the downtown business improvement area (BIA) for the holiday season. (A BIA is an organization of local businesses and property owners that represents the commercial interests of a neighbourhood.) The BIA does a great job of making downtown feel festive in the holiday season and they want to make sure that lots of people come enjoy it. One way they do that is an annual campaign where social media personalities share their experiences spending time downtown over the holidays using the hashtag #bringitdowntown. As recruited 'personalities,' we also get themes to play with. Mine is "Stay All Day" (too easy - I live here) and Ryan's is "Be Social."
So we're going to be social. We'll be showing Saga City at a local pub (Tuesday, Dec. 3 - 5:30pm at the back of the Snooty Fox if you're in Freddy Beach) and inviting community members to come talk about it. We want to know how people see the issues of fictional Colvert in relation to Fredericton.
I'll bring my camera! Hope to have insights to share later.
I wonder, if you show Saga City to a friend or colleague or your mom or something, what kind of reactions do you get?
